What the organisation should be able to explain
Depending on the case, the evidence may need to show:
- what agreement or event created the alleged liability;
- how the amount has been calculated, including added fees;
- who owns the alleged debt and why the collector is involved;
- the notices, statements and transaction-level records relied upon;
- how your earlier dispute or complaint was considered.
We do not tell you to ignore it
A disputed demand still needs to be handled carefully. Send every page of the latest letter, the original creditor's name, reference numbers, amounts and deadlines. We can help with evidence and complaint casework, but we do not provide regulated debt advice or promise an outcome.
The response becomes part of the record
We place the chronology, documents and organisation's responses under one case reference. Unsupported assertions, unanswered questions and continued collection activity are recorded and may support later complaints, referrals or proceedings.
